San Diego, CA, January 21, 2008 - Gasabo 3D Design Ltd. is an engineering services company based in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. The company was formed in 2007 as a spin off from the Rwandan Information Technology Authority (RITA) and is located in the Kigali ICT Park. RITA was established in 2002 as part of a wider government initiative to increase the contribution of information and communications technology (ICT) within the Rwandan industrial and service economies from 10% in 2000 to 80% in 2020.

Gasabo 3D’s roots can be traced to a meeting in 2004 when executives from the SolidWorks Corporation met with Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame and agreed to assist in the effort to develop 3D modelling skills in the country. Those early discussions led to the development of 3D CAD training classes at ETO Gitarama and Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (K.I.S.T). The top ranked graduates of these schools provided the initial talent pool for Gasabo 3D.

Today, Gasabo 3D has a staff of 13, a mixture of trained SolidWorks technicians and mechanical engineers. Gasabo 3D CEO John Rugamba has aggressive plans for the company, “We are working closely with the administrations of ETO Kitarama and K.I.S.T. to ensure that their graduates meet Gasabo 3D’s exacting standards.
